Default Introducing Myself - PTSD from Childbirth

Hello All,
My name is Jess and I am 27 from MN. A year and a half ago, when giving birth to my son, I had major complications and almost passed away. Because of these complications and the severity of them, I have been diagnosed with PTSD, as well as anxiety and depression issues. I am currently in therapy and have been for some time, and I take meds as well, but there are still those ups and downs. I previously joined a forum for PTSD after childbirth, and that helps, but that forum has been pretty inactive. I am hoping to meet others with PTSD that may be going through similar things that I am. It helps to get different perspectives on things as well. I am not going to go into full detail as far as exactly WHAT happened during the birth, as I just do not think that I could mentally handle going through all the details right now. The flashbacks and nightmares have been more and more frequent and vivid and the anxiety and depression seem to be worsening as well.
I am so glad to have found this forum.

Hey jess724 -

I'm new too, and from what I've seen and read on this forum so far this is a good loving place to be. It's heavily moderated to keep it that way from what I understand reading the stickies and all.

I have surfed other forums and have found them poorly run considering the nature of what we all deal with that is PTSD . . . in my opinion anyway. I have found that, and this again is just my opinion from what I have observed, that unless one is trained in dealing with PTSD, has PTSD themselves, or are very empathetic people, most or many cannot understand, I mean really understand, what people with PTSD have to go through.

This forum and the moderators seem to have it nailed to me . . . to create a safe place for people to gather together and talk about all the uncomfortable, well, that's an understatement, the horrible stuff people with PTSD have to endure.

Anyway, I tend to write a lot. I always wanted to be a writer . . . but well . . . :) So I do have the tendency to just keep pecking away at the keyboard until . . . ho . . . I've written 500 words and wasn't that fun. Ha ha.

But this is your introduction, not my forum.

Nothin' but good wishes and I hope this is as good an experience for you as I hope it is for me.
