| | Notices | Welcome to PTSD Forum. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a life threatening, debilitating disorder that can break down a sufferer’s body through anxiety and stress. Further it poses a significant suicide risk resulting from the brains neurological imbalance and chemical depression. Sufferers often live in denial, thus this community is aimed at helping PTSD sufferers help themselves through others experiences, guidance and education. We are here for the sufferer, spouse and families surrounding PTSD. Spouses and family are too often forgotten in this equation, and often they receive all the worst that PTSD has to offer. If you're involved in any way with PTSD, get registered and help yourself now. Non-active members will eventually be deleted. If you are not a sufferer, carer or someone within the mental health industry, and active, then there is little reason for you to be a member of this forum. Non-active members with zero posts are deleted periodically during the year. | | |

| | Thank you Hodge. Both Jim and Evie are home now, Evie is resting however she still seems in fairly good spirits and may be visiting the forum soon. My sister and her husband are planning to visit in a couple of days. I couldn't be happier. I suppose I was never meant to live alone! Those who do, I honestly do not understand how you do it! |

| | Wow thanks Nicolette for starting this thread and to everyone who's wished me (and Mum) well. It's really great to know everyone misses me and cares how I'm doing.
Like Mum said, I just got home from the hospital today, and I am feeling not so great yet, still resting but getting better. Just over a week ago I had an appendectomy, and during the appendectomy the doctors noticed suspicious growth on my intestines/bowel area. They did a biopsy and the results were pre-cancerous, meaning basically Stage 0 of bowel cancer, and that if not removed it would become full-blown cancer eventually. So, I needed a second surgery, and they removed part of my bowel, the unhealthy part plus some of the healthy tissue surrounding it, just to make sure they got it all. This was why Mum was so stressed, because of the prospect of me having cancer again. She couldn't talk about it because I didn't feel ready to have it discussed on the forum just yet, and she respected my wishes.
I was in remission so this is kind of a bummer, but they do think they got it all, so I am trying to remain positive about it. And honestly, before I found out the results of the biopsy, I was feeling at peace even with the prospect of having full blown cancer again, so it's a bonus that it was pre-cancerous. I'll need to be monitored more closely again now, but I am used to that. I guess you can get used to anything.
Thanks everyone for all the wishes, messages, PMs and so on. I've actually turned off my PM system though, as I need a break. It's not a slight against anyone here, everyone can still leave messages on my profile page if you like. It's more for myself, because I am terrible for expecting myself to answer every single PM, and then I get worn out. Anyways thanks all, I'm happy to be back online. |

| | Evie... GREAT to see you! So glad to see you back, and I am impressed with your positivity considering the yet another scare. I am just glad that it was pre-cancerous and they think they've got it all...
No wonder your mum was feeling so down...
Glad you are resting up Evie.... sending you my well wishes once more and hope you feel better soon.
Kathy....How are you doing?
Thinking of you all.

| | Yes Lisa, that was why I was so worried about Evie. I was rather upset about the possibility of more cancer for her. That coupled with worrying about Colin in Afghanistan and dealing with Brian's death as well, has become a bit much for me lately. However, I am pleased to have Evie home once more, she is recovering well and I am proud of her for her positive attitude! |

| | I'm so glad to hear from you, too, Evie! Keep up the good work, meaning rest, attitude... you know what I mean. Anyway, so glad to hear you're on the mend!
And Kathy, I hope you're feeling more at ease. Also, it's so nice to look forward to good company, isn't it? |

| | I Want Food!!! :( Thanks Pandora for the welcome back. :)
I am having trouble sleeping tonight due to my recent surgery but rather than start a new thread I decided to bitch here about how I am feeling. I had part of my bowel removed and I am currently on a liquid diet, mostly of Ensure, which is a meal replacement for those who don't know. Anyways, I REALLY WANT FOOD!! :( Like solid food I mean. I have a whole other week of yucky Ensure, bleah...
Anyways that's all I wanted to say. I'm finished feeling sorry for myself now. ;) |

| | Hey, Evie - sometimes it helps to blend it with ice and extra vanilla and sugar. I am not sure if that will still follow how you have to eat but I understand being tired of ensure! Hoping this week will pass very fast for you!! | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
