| | Notices | Welcome to PTSD Forum. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a life threatening, debilitating disorder that can break down a sufferer’s body through anxiety and stress. Further it poses a significant suicide risk resulting from the brains neurological imbalance and chemical depression. Sufferers often live in denial, thus this community is aimed at helping PTSD sufferers help themselves through others experiences, guidance and education. We are here for the sufferer, spouse and families surrounding PTSD. Spouses and family are too often forgotten in this equation, and often they receive all the worst that PTSD has to offer. If you're involved in any way with PTSD, get registered and help yourself now. Non-active members will eventually be deleted. If you are not a sufferer, carer or someone within the mental health industry, and active, then there is little reason for you to be a member of this forum. | | Bloody Microsoft Windows, Insomnia, and Rage I got a question for anyone who cares to reply . . .
What is it that like sets ya off. I mean like things are going on a rather even keel, the usual cruddy day, somewhat depressed, isolated . . . pissed off, nobody loves me . . . and I don't give a s*** 'cause I don't like anyone much less feel any love for anyone. But it's not going too bad. Not as bad as it can get. You know what I'm sayin', eh.
So like what is it for ya that does it . . .
So for me one of the things is bloody Microsoft Windows crashing and taking all my saved files with it into bloody hell. So then I spend the next few hours trying to get my back up to reload my OS, but the bloody hackers have got a virus into it and its corrupt. ****ing bloody hell . . . not again.
So then I start the PROCESS. Re-install that bastard Bill Gates's bloody Micro$oft Windo$e. Ya know I live not more than 20 miles from the freak . . . wish it was 20 light years.
Then I download the latest chipset drivers and install them. Then the drivers for the peripherals, the graphics card, the audio card, etc. All the while Windoze update is trying to download security fixes for their cruddy OS, and freezing up my computer . .. bloody bastards. Then I re-install all the software I use . . . the anti-virus for all the good it does, firewall, anti-spyware, etc.
So by the time I get the basic software going I've installed 44 drivers and utilities . . . like
Winzip,
Adobe Reader,
avast! Antivirus,
System Mechanic 5,
Creative Labs audio card drivers and utilities,
AMD dual-core optimizer,
download managers,
Java runtime,
Java 6 update 2,
Java 6 update 3,
Logitech SetPoint mouse driver,
Marvell cable modem driver,
Microsoft .net framework 1.1,
Microsoft .net framework1.1
Microsoft .net framework Hotfix 2.9
Microsoft .net framework service pack 1,
Microsoft .net framework Dr. Watson,
Microsoft .net framework CRT,
Microsoft .net framework CA,
Winforms,
Microsoft .net framework 1,
Microsoft .net framework CKR and PREXP and ASP .NET,
Micosoft Base Smart Card Crpto Server Provider package,
Compression client pack,
User Mode Driver Framework Feature Pack 1.0
Vistula C++ Redistributable,
Nvidia graphics card drivers,
Windows Genuine Advantate Validation Tool
and ninety four Windows XP Hotfix's, and Security Updates for Windows XP.
All that before I install my games which I have about 15 very large game . . . which included patches, updates, etc. Then I have to re-configure all the controls and on and on and on . . .
So if all goes well lol, it'll take around twelve hours give or take . . . longer if there's a problem.
So after 12 straight hours of dealing quite calmly with Mr. Gates's bloody OS I'm so wired that I can't sleep. Anyway it's 4 am . . . so I take a handful of across the counter sleepers, and the 1 mg of Clonopin, 50 mg of trazadone, one or two Tylonol 3's with codiene 'cause my bloody back and ass ache from sittin' fixin' Mr. Gates's ****ing crummy OS. That's a gob that'd put a rhino down for a day!!!
But me? No. I sleep until my loving wife wakes me up at 6:30 am to tell me she off to work. Bye love . . . have a good day. Kiss kiss.
Go back to sleep? Not on your life. Can't be done. If I gulp down any more sleepers my Dr. will have my arse in a paper bag.
So I'll grab a six pack of Dr. Pepper with all the caffeine and more . . . take my Aderall for my ADHD. Good that'll wake me up. While chugging my six of Dr. Pepper I turn my computer on . . . Ahh yes. That's better. But I have to enter the license keys for the games I installed last night . . .. bloody ****ing hell. The keys have expired again and I have to email the bastards for another batch.
So this is the point where I can loose it or just chill . . . pick up a book and read it while the teck's give my my ****ing new game keys so I can play my #(%&$* games.
Or, as has happened in the past, I can take my 30 lb computer monitor and plant it squarely up the ass of my computer which I have done twice . . . well, to be honest three times. Ya, totaled the bloody bastard too. I also used my monitor as a bowling ball in my living room once in the aftermath . . . worked rather well.
Thing is, if you can ignore all the destruction and all, the point being my routine has been disrupted. My CFS and fibromyalgia will act up . . . my bones and joint will hurt like bloody hell, and quite frankly I will be in one really, really bad mood, can't sleep, no energy to read, watch the tv . . . just bloody lay there on my pad and feel ****ing horrible . . . and probably be really nasty to my wife . . . I'm a bloody horrible disgrace and not worth the scum on a pond in the swamps of deepest darkest Africa. A pitiful excuse for a man. Dirt.
At this point the afterlife is a very attractive deal . . . this is not suicidal thinking. There is no plan. I have make bloody contracts with my therapist . . . stupid ass that I am. And I keep my word. It would be against God. My wife and son would be really pissed . . . No can do.
But if I just lay here perhaps fate has a plan for me . . .
I should be so lucky. No ****ing way would I be so lucky.
So I spend the next week digging myself out of the pit that bloody Mr. Gates's cruddy OS has put me into. Man I hate Microsoft Windose!!!
Anyway, that's one of my triggers lol.

| | You actually unknowingly answered your own question to the problem at hand with your system crashing periodically.... 15 games installed. Windows never has, never will claim that it is game friendly. Games run and produce conflicts, bugs if you like, within Windows. The only way you can avoid system failures is to limit the games you load to one at a time. You have the game your playing installed, you play it, when you finish it you remove it completely from the system. You then install the next game.
Having multiple games loaded which are already buggy at the best of times as Windows does not guarantee to be compatible with them, let alone play nice with other game files installed on the system. You must understand that games use some of the same files in Windows OS to run. When you have more than one installed, you now created a conflict of interest in those files, hence you crash Windows.
If you use the safe method which is recommended by most computer experts, you install one game and uninstall completely, restart then install your next game. I have run mine that way for a long time now and never crashed Windows. When I used to run several games on the system, just having several installed that is, Windows used to crash due to conflicts.
Best thing... you sound quite computer literate, which is great. |

| | Geez anthony-
Thank you. That is one solution I have not hear from anyone.
But I believe you.
Once a tech, told me that he believe Windose needed to be re-installed every six month . . . another word of wisdom that I heard only once . . .
Well, better to know the bad news than not to is my attitude.
Thanks again.

| | Doug, you may be angry about the computer, however it seems you really know what you are doing, which means you must have some patience! I have virtually none, my children solve all computer issues for me! From what I do know however, I agree with Anthony, games are notorious for crashing windows. My daughter now has a Mac, so she is not using windows at all anymore. My children mostly play games using gaming systems such as Nintendo and Playstation rather than the computer, in any event. |

| | I can't see any pictures when I come in here through Firefox. I can't even see the little icons that have the heart to give reputation. I have no clue how to fix this and I've tried a few things.
I think I will ask my son to fix it because if I try to do it I will probably damage it more.
I have to say Tdurdin you are not scum of th earth just because your having a bad day. Your life is worth more than you think. I wish I had your knowledge of computers. Please give yourself a break and take some deep breaths. You are not your feelings they are temporary.
I hope you feel better soon
Peace
Tammy

| | Tammy, your forum account is set to display images, which means its the browser settings. Tools > Options > Content and ensure images are set to display. Firefox is set correctly at default, so I do not know why it would not show images unless someone has messed with it previously.
Doug, loading windows is actually a correct issue to a point, however; not every six months and not actually required if you know how to fix this. The problem with Windows is that it records every bit of data, and I mean every bit. Every click, recorded. Every choice, recorded. All this is stored on your hard drive and nothing you do manually can remove it, however; one true program does exist that actually does clean your hard drive back to it original form as it will rewrite your space and remove magnetic traces. Its called "Evidence Eliminator" and I believe it is version 6 now. Yes, there are lots of possibly cheaper or more expensive competition to it, but I would not advise it. These people are the original and the absolute best at what this software does. I use it on all my systems usually monthly. I don't enable the features to clean every shutdown or the like, waste of time and space. Instead, you stop it from starting at startup, you manually go into it once a month and let it clean your entire system, then when its finished you restart then defrag, then restart again and your system will be back to scratch just as the day you installed Windows, obviously with the exception your drive will still run at the speed dependant upon how much you have loaded upon it and the type of hard drive.
I run SCSI in my systems at 15000 RPM. My new notebook to buy soon I am ordering with the new solid state hard drives, as they are instant as they have no moving parts. No doubt a better option for desktop PC's also, though not sure if they have them out for desktops or not yet, just seen them as options in notebooks.
I really focused on eliminating as many I/O issues with my new rack systems for optimal speed and performance. Took some time in research, but lets just say our systems here open and close, manage programs and perform instantly regardless what you have open or are doing. All quad core processors, fast drives over large drives, lots of cache, etc. I won't have to touch our systems here for the next five years now....

| | Hey Anthony -
Thanks mate. Sounds to me like you run the server for the forum here as you mentioned your rack. Possibly a RAID system? Or else you have a hell of a system. Anyway, when we started talking computers I immediately sensed you have an in depth knowledge. Evidence Eliminator I never have heard of, but will do a search and see where I can get a copy. It sounds great. I've been looking for utilities for years to keep this ****y Windoze working write and always come up short. First I tried Ghost by Norton, a memory system hogging joke . . . then, gees I even forget all the crap I've tried. But I finally found a backup utility called Bootit, $10 US that will image the whole system. That works well. But of course an image even if accurate carries all the garbage from the original partition or hard disk. I am excited to get that Evidence Eliminator. Very excited, Antony.
I guess a solution would be to go to the RAID type setup which I don't really understand well. Never looked into it. It just seems to be really silly to have to go to such lengths to keep a computer system going . . . . geez, I mean I just want to play some games, and access this forum and read some emails. And I got to consider a RAID system.
nthony, you've given me me some really good tips. I really appreciate it.
And that solid state storages is going to be something, eh. Bill Gates the bloody fool will figure some way to screw it up lol.

I am about to give the fricking thing flying lessons........Be patient, I am trying to. | Hi She Cat - What you expressed in one sentence is exactly what I feel like many times. I know its the crummy Windo$e OS. And it is a real pain. My wife knows next to nothing about computers and doesn't want to and I can't blame her 'cause they can be horribly frustrating. But I have developed a lot more patience with them over the years. I haven't bashed one in a fairly long time, probably almost two years now. She now has her own computer which she reads emails on, browses the web and writes a few things and thats it. The system is acting stable. But when it does do something strange I'm the go to guy. I have learned to take the deep breath and not fling the ****ing thing through the window, but that has come at a cost. Destroying something like a computer is a solution . . . not the best one probably, 'cause then I have to tell my wife, then shell out the several grand to get a new one.
But as long as The Doze has 80% of the OS business locked up, I'm gonna deal with it.
Ultimately, I'm going to a Mac workstation. It will eliminate a lot of the games I like, and limit the selection a bit, but the good news is a great increase in system stability.
I just don't understand why The Dose OS manages to maintain such a large share of the OS market. It is just such a badly built system. The Unix/Linux/Mac OS just don't have these kind of problems unless ya get into the guts and start messing with stuff that ya just ought not to mess with. Like defrag . . . there is no defrag on Unix/Linix/Mac OS because the system is designed to optimize. Anyway, ****ing Micro$oft and Bill Gates . . . blow'em to bloody hell I say, eh. |

Mac Unix/Linux OS base is just superior to Bill Gates's nightmare. I plan on getting Mac workstation. I won't have such a large selection of games, but I can live with it. I did get a 360 console. ****ing Microsoft again. Blast I knew I should have spent the bucks on the Playstation 3. The $box 360 just doesn't compare in quality to the Playstation, and the game selection is rather poor. My favorite's, SOCOM, Grand Turismo, Mario Brothers series and several others are all on the Playstation 3. I'll just sell the bloody $box 360 for a few bucks and bust for the Playstation. Matter of fact, maybe I'll do that today. Thank you Lord for bringing me to this forum. I have made a breakthrough. I'm actually going to take a step to break this nightmare logjam.
Out with the evil $box 360 and the The Doze OS. In with the benevolent Playstation 3 and the Mac workstation. I will sick the powerful Evidence Eliminator on the wicked Doze OS. Peace and harmony will once again prevail.
To be continued . . .
