Default Hello - New To Forum

Hello all I am new to this forum. I didn't even know this forum existed until I followed searches from Wikipedia. Well here I am.

I am on Social Security Disability Insurance due to mental illness. After working with the Rehabilitation Services here in Ohio for six years and not being successful we decided disability was the only remaining option.

I was approved on the first try. The case was audited and approved again so I am well satisfied with the outcome and thanks to all the individuals that helped me get here.

What caught me off guard was that the psychologist who tested me for disability included PTSD in the diagnoses, Then I was sent to a psychiatrist who also included PTSD NOS--not otherwise specified.

This caught me totally off guard as I had been diagnosed with Bipolar II and depression with accompaning anxiety/panic attacks. I have had a myriad of symptoms. Now I get the PTSD--Complex version. Which much better describes my symptoms and am currently re-examining with my psychiatric providers.

Well so much about me in this my first thread.

Thanks for this opportunity.

Welcome to the forum, Epi!
I am also on SSI and just went through my first re-evaluation after they approved me in 2005. I survived it, but after many tears. My advice to you now that you are iron-clad approved is, start making a list of every doctor you visit and what for, if that visit has anything to do with your disability. Write down the name, address, phone number, date you saw her/ him, all info. When you get your re-eval letter in 3-5 years, you will be able to fill that form out in no time, even if you happen to be going through a mental illness fallout at that time.

I already had 100% service-connected disability (physical disabilities) from the VA when I got approved by SocSec, and I ain't ever going to miraculously become healed/ cured/ well. But still, you know how the govt works, and they had to go through the whole damn thing all over again as if I was not disabled at all.
