Default Looking For Help - Raped Twice and Wondering Whether I Have PTSD

my name is sierra and i have been raped twice. can this cause ptsd? i have really bad nightmares that just wont go away. i also see these nightmares in the day time. it feels so real like i am right there, and its happening over and over again and again. i feel lost and alone and paranoid. i dont sleep well, when i do manage to sleep. it feels like i am standing outside myself looking in. the doctors i have seen say its just depression, take this and we will see how you are doing in a few weeks, the medicines they have tried me on are not helping any. the rapes occured in my teens and i am in my 40's now. i want some help and my husband is encouraging and supportive and loving. he is in the medical field so he sees what i am going through, at his encouragement i have decided to change doctors and see if i can get the right type of help. sorry this post is so long. new to this and looking for help and answers.

Hi Sierra and welcome to the forum. It sounds like you may have PTSD but only a doctor can diagnose you with this. It would be beneficial to get the correct diagnosis before posting questions.

I wish you well
Tammy

Yes, I agree that you need to see a therapist to get an accurate diagnosis. I feel that asking questions is a good thing to do. You need to have some answers to your questions.

You may have PTSD by the sounds of your symptoms, but please go see a therapist. Start working on things as soon as possible.

So welcome to the forum......

Hi Welcome to the forum.

As the others have said, you need to be diagnosed by a psychiatrist, and then get the approrpriate treatment/ therapy for your condition. There is lots of useful information on the forum, so have a good read around.

Take care
