Default Sufferers - When is The Best Time To Read This Book?

Hi my lovelies,

For those of you who know my story, BB has 44 days left before he leaves to meet me in Asia.

I was going to Amazon and courier it to him today!

I Can't Get Over It" by Aphrodite Matsakis (second edition)

and

What the bleep do we know? --the DVD. I highly recommend, especially for rainy days.

RE: I Can't Get Over It" by Aphrodite Matsakis (second edition)

I have seen that it is highly recommended, by Anthony and so on, but I want to know if is a book you can read before therapy, and in a particularly stressful environment like he will be in for the next 45 days.

What I am saying is, he's got 45 more days not including days off of 15 hour work days, a bit of time for restless sleep and the gym -- will this book be a comfort or a stress for him in this time? or Neutral, plus helpful?

He reads a lot, it would be easy for him to include reading into his schedule, even if it's just on the bus to work.

Thanks again you beautiful things!

Hey Samsara,

What the bleep do we know was a good movie! Have you seen Waking Life?

I can't answer your question but congrats that your honey is coming to see you shortly!

Best,
Rachel

I recently bought this book and all throughout the book she recommends and highlights that ideally you are under the care of a therapist.

Initially I couldn't get into, found it too triggering. Then I got some comfort, and now I haven't picked up again in a couple of weeks, as I'm finding it too much.

She does say that people do find the book triggering, may increase suicide ideation etc which is why she recommends that you have a therapist.

I don't think it would be ideal to be reading this if there was a stressful environment and no therapist IMHO.

I agree with Awakening.....I read tons and have worked hard in this book but you have to look deep inside and it can be quite emotional. i have had it a year...read the whole thing but completed a quarter only. Good Luck!

Yes I must confess I've done none of the actual exercises. Reading is enough for me at this stage.

I have this also. I have not read too much as I am waiting for my grounding techniques to become more solid first. I have browsed chapters and had what i call, 'the Head Nodding experience'. Perhaps, it would be a good book as a future resource? Perhaps, in addition to when therpay is strated?
