| | Interesting. My autistic daughter (who also has PTSD) and autistic grandson both need heavy covers when sleeping. As we are now in the tropics, daughter has special weighted covers which are heavy however not hot. Also both daughter and grandson wear weighted vests when needed, to stay calm and focused. Grounds them apparently, helps with sensory integration issues. Makes them more aware of their bodies in general. One wonders if it would help some PTSDs as well - especially those with dissociation problems. Jim. |

| | I thought when I was young that I was protecting my neck from the breath of the vampire; but perhaps it was a monster I wasn't willing to acknowledge.
I LOVE the covers piled on. My husband says I'm a furnace.

| | Heh -- I'm one of the "pile on the covers!" folks...except in summer. I can finally sleep feeling safe under just a sheet...as long as my husband is there beside me. On any cool/cold night, I'll have at least three covers on me; G. might have one. He's a man-furnace and I'm a wee thing who gets cold so easily. Either way, we have our bedroom window open -- even a crack during the coldest months. |

| | I used to, seeing that I had been sexually assaulted. I was terrified of sleeping without a lot to protect me.
Then last fall I was blessed with some excellent advice from both my mother and a local friend- get a restraining order. I thought that because of my last conviction that it'd be good money down the toilet trying that. Well, I was wrong. The mental effect that had was astounding. After I got out of jail I was terrified of going camping. I'm not sure how I'll do this year. Maybe it'll be better, maybe not. But now I can sleep semi-comfortably. I still have horrendous nightmares, but nothing I cover myself with will help that. But, unlike before, if I don't have nightmares, I can at least sleep comfortably. Just pray for no nightmares! |

Less feels better because I need to be able to react to defend myself and not be confined by blankets. I do sound weird. Smile. I'm working hard on this.
Sleep well

| | I really like to have a heavy cover. I even have this 3xl thick robe i carry around the house it comforts me and at night i sleep with that in a ball and my teddy with 1 sheet and this like3in thick comforter. Hmmm maybe that's how they got the name comforter, because they're comforting!! |

| | Have to have a ton of covers on me when I am sleeping. I think it has to do with feeling safe & secure. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
