Default Need Some Advice - Long Time Since Feeling Normal

Hi Everybody

I am a 35 year old male. Don't really know where to start - I have been suffering for a long time. I was raped about 13 years ago by two men - it was quite a brutal and violent rape. Didn't talk about it to anyone about it for 11 years. Only a couple of years ago, I met this woman with whom I fell in love with, and hence told her about it. Since then I have been pretty much a mess - bad thoughts, more fears, depression....And on top of that this girl left me - I begged her for to have some patience, and see that this is not the true me, and there is someone else who so badly wants to come out. But she walked away....Anyway, I have finally started therapy on a regular basis, and my therapist wants me to go on a PTSD medicine....Guess most people look at me, and see no physical scars (I look very normal), but I have been hurting inside for such a long time.....

That's a start...

I'm so sorry for your loss. Make yourself that person you want to be and try again. But first find the you inside.

Take good care of yourself then the rest will follow!

Hi sfa,

Your introduction pulled on my heart strings - I hope you are able to find some great resources here and a safe place to talk about what you're going through. It's great that you've started therapy.

Welcome to the forum.

Best,
Rachel

sfa - your post touched me as well. I feel sorry for the woman who left you - she could have invested time and possibly came out with something great. Keep working on yourself, get support and I'm sure you have heard this cliche but the right person may come along and you just might be thankful that this other one walked away. God be with you my friend.
