| | Notices | Welcome to PTSD Forum. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a life threatening, debilitating disorder that can break down a sufferer’s body through anxiety and stress. Further it poses a significant suicide risk resulting from the brains neurological imbalance and chemical depression. Sufferers often live in denial, thus this community is aimed at helping PTSD sufferers help themselves through others experiences, guidance and education. We are here for the sufferer, spouse and families surrounding PTSD. Spouses and family are too often forgotten in this equation, and often they receive all the worst that PTSD has to offer. If you're involved in any way with PTSD, get registered and help yourself now. Non-active members will eventually be deleted. If you are not a sufferer, carer or someone within the mental health industry, and active, then there is little reason for you to be a member of this forum. Non-active members with zero posts are deleted periodically during the year. | | |

| | That would be hard about changing Ts, telling the story over and over, I've been fortunate to have to do it only once (so far). Thats great you've found a T you trust and one that truly cares! That's wonderful, it's cool that he cares enough to go overtime too, great find!!
I found a site that in New Mexico and maybe Louisiana pshycologists can write rxs, maybe it will spread? Theres alot of debate over it though.

| | I started out with a Therapist who was a certified social worker. After a few years, she referred me to a psychiatrist for medication adjustments. I saw him every two weeks for what started as 1/2 hour, but graduated into an hour each time. We started out mainly discussing the medication process, but went onto other things.
I eventually stopped seeing the T (for a few reasons), and have been with psychiatrist ever since. I believe, for me, it was a wise decision. My insurance covers him just as much as they did the therapist.
Good luck in whatever you decide. |

sunnydaze | Hi sunnydaze, yeah, I'm feeling better. Thanks! Again, glad to hear you have a good T that cares!!! Do you see a diffrence between having a M/F T or P? I found mine just looking through who my insurance accepts and thought she'd be good. Turns out she is, I like her, and she has a sense of humor, which I always appreciate! I don't see that it would matter much to me, just depends on what/who your comfortable with, but do in general notice any diffrence? |

| | Hello Cyper,
I had a visit w/ my T yesterday. He feels, I am doing real well. We did some biofeedback and he said I relax and show great improvement almost immediately when he plays the tapes. He thinks, I am better I guess than how I see myself. He had me write down all the tramatic things I could remember from my past that I went through.
He feels that is a sign of healing and me posting in this forum and giving advise is also showing healing signs.
As far as your ? on P or T. I like going to T's. As far as male or female, I have always had greater help and felt more comfortable w/ males. They seem to be more compassionate and genuinely caring. I saw a few woman T's and right away they tried to tell me, I didn't tell my mom about the abuses I went through because perhaps, I enjoyed it. ABSURD! I was 7 @ my earliest memory.
Hope your journey to getting well doesn't last so long that you don't enjoy life. I missed out on so many years.
