| | Notices | Welcome to PTSD Forum. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a life threatening, debilitating disorder that can break down a sufferer’s body through anxiety and stress. Further it poses a significant suicide risk resulting from the brains neurological imbalance and chemical depression. Sufferers often live in denial, thus this community is aimed at helping PTSD sufferers help themselves through others experiences, guidance and education. We are here for the sufferer, spouse and families surrounding PTSD. Spouses and family are too often forgotten in this equation, and often they receive all the worst that PTSD has to offer. If you're involved in any way with PTSD, get registered and help yourself now. Non-active members will eventually be deleted. If you are not a sufferer, carer or someone within the mental health industry, and active, then there is little reason for you to be a member of this forum. Non-active members with zero posts are deleted periodically during the year. | | |

| | Poems by Us Ok, Folks. I think a poetry thread would be great, besides it'll be great reading for me, since I'm not much of a poet. So, those of you who are awesome at writing feelings down in rhythm, write away!
Cookie, could you place your poem here? |

| | y'all bear in mind that i am not a poet, just a way to get feelings out.
SHADOWS OF DEPRESSION
I can feel the hot breath of depression
As he steadily creeps closer on my heels.
I can see his shadow arms encircling;
My heart in terror reels!
It's too late; he has swallowed all of me.
His fowl stench has overcome with fear and strife.
Must I surrender all that's left of myself?
Must I stop his advance by forfeit of this life?
I see now a glimmer of a disappearing hope.
I feel my heart beat faster; on to it I race!
With all I have I'm reaching; there! It's just ahead!
But comes his shadow fingers stretching 'round my face.
Will I ever see the brightness of the sun again?
Or feel the gentle warmth of a happy love that grows?
Will I ever know contentment of this shadowed life?
Or will this empty, shaking shell be forever all that shows? |

| | I hope this comes through.. Attachment 61
you may have to save this on your computer and then "un-zip" the file. It is an amazing slide show that a very dear and intuitive friend sent me. Be sure to turn up your volume as well.
There are many very thought-provoking pieces in it.
Very poetic (even though I didn't write it:tongue: ) |

| | New Poem... EMPTY HAS NO WORDS
I'm crying
on the outside
Because there's nothing
left inside
No hope
No time
No age
Just walking passing
shadows
I am surrounded
by all this dark
Sun fails
to penetrate
only forests
Hide the trees
My hands
can't pull them down
or away
Which would require
Some grand effort
lost to me
I'm not pushing
Just standing here
On empty
With loss
engraved
A scar upon
my heart
I wrote this while in the hospital SEPT. 5, 2006 |

| | Another poem from the hospital A Supreme Goodbye
Sadness drops
like rains
dashing itself on this
window glass
I'm trying to get outside
Trying
and I look back
at faces
wet with rain
Somehow we'll
all work this out
I know
I know
