Default How's the Phoenix VA?

I was just wondering if anybody has an opinion about the VA's treatment of PTSD at Carl Hayden VAMC. in Phoenix. When I was first diagnosed 15 yrs ago, the only treatment seemed to be throwing you a bunch of pills and saying "See ya next month."

Has it gotten any better?

I have talked to two different people who don't know each other about this very topic, and they both rave about the quality of medical care in PHX at that VA. Medical care, specifically. I think only one of them , a psychologist in Tucson, raves about the psych care there as well. I trust these two opinions, as one is a Vietnam vet and the other is a psychologist.

Default Thanks for the input

Thanks 2quilt,

Now all I've got to do is work up the courage to talk to others about my problems. Like I said in my intro, I have used techniques I learned in psych classes to "forget" my time in Vietnam and it worked but created a whole new set of issues. Now, I can only recall bits and pieces of my tours so I have PTSD w/o being able to remember the experiences that caused it.

And then there's the disgraceful way we were treated by our "fellow Americans" when we got home. I've spent years thinking that I would'nt lift a finger to defend this country if another war came along and although the anger about this has subsided somewhat, I still feel the same way.
