| | Notices | Welcome to PTSD Forum. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a life threatening, debilitating disorder that can break down a sufferer’s body through anxiety and stress. Further it poses a significant suicide risk resulting from the brains neurological imbalance and chemical depression. Sufferers often live in denial, thus this community is aimed at helping PTSD sufferers help themselves through others experiences, guidance and education. We are here for the sufferer, spouse and families surrounding PTSD. Spouses and family are too often forgotten in this equation, and often they receive all the worst that PTSD has to offer. If you're involved in any way with PTSD, get registered and help yourself now. Non-active members will eventually be deleted. If you are not a sufferer, carer or someone within the mental health industry, and active, then there is little reason for you to be a member of this forum. Non-active members with zero posts are deleted periodically during the year. | | |

| | I would be a stray cat.
Not really feeling like I belong anywhere.
Hang out with other strays, not knowing where they belong.
Not trusting of people; prepared to claw if they try to pet me.
Wanting a warm place to stay but feel undeserving
Willing to accept scraps instead of pursuing a confident existence
Suspicious of kind acts; thinking it is most likely a trap or dog catcher and I will end up in the pound counting down my days of survival.
Jumpy and run at the sound of any loud noise.
Feel safe when hidden |

| | I've described myself as a wounded puppy before when it came to PTSD. I run and hide and if someone reaches out I might snap at them out of fear even if they were only trying to help. Other than that I'm probably a lot like a laughing hyena. I like to laugh! |

| | Bonobos A bonobo looks like a chimp, but they do everything in exchange for sex. They have sex 100 times a day, and do it in exchange for food, water, just to be friends with benefits, because it's lunchtime, because it's Tuesday...
honestly I thing bonobos have more energy for sex than any other creature on earth. They don't discriminate. |

| | I think I would be an elephant. Just kind of a big lug walking around, not worrying too much, eating all day and remembering things. |

| | Small Dog I have been like a small dog kept in a crate. Unable to venture out because I'm frightened of what I will find. It is safe in the small space I have created. I know what to expect, I control what happens. I'm finding though that lately I can step out, begining to trust one person. Hoping beyond hope that they won't hurt me like he did. I run back to the safety of the crate often and have to be coaxed out again. Sometimes I can exist comfortably with the door open watching the world. From a distance it doesn't look so bad, it's when you are right in the middle of it that it can hurt. I know I'll find a place to be safe outside the crate, it will just take time.
OK, sorry if that sounded like such a downer but I it really is how I feel.

| | In addition, if I were an elephant, I would not have to care how I looked, I could bathe in mud, and roll in the dirt whenever I felt like.
It might be kind of sporting to go thundering through the occasional village as well. I wouldn't actually hurt anyone, I'd just like to watch them run.
I could also occaionally sneak up to a lion while he was napping, put my trunk next to his ear, and trumpet as loud as I could, just to watch him jump. |
