| | Notices | Welcome to PTSD Forum. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a life threatening, debilitating disorder that can break down a sufferer’s body through anxiety and stress. Further it poses a significant suicide risk resulting from the brains neurological imbalance and chemical depression. Sufferers often live in denial, thus this community is aimed at helping PTSD sufferers help themselves through others experiences, guidance and education. We are here for the sufferer, spouse and families surrounding PTSD. Spouses and family are too often forgotten in this equation, and often they receive all the worst that PTSD has to offer. If you're involved in any way with PTSD, get registered and help yourself now. Non-active members will eventually be deleted. If you are not a sufferer, carer or someone within the mental health industry, and active, then there is little reason for you to be a member of this forum. Non-active members with zero posts are deleted periodically during the year. | | |

| | Stress and Boils OMG this is so embarrassing..... When I get stressed out, and upset, for a period of time. (couple of days) I get boils....I only get them on one area of my body... My butt!!!!!! So now we know where the term "Pain in the butt" comes from.....Me and my boils.... Literally!!!
If no one has noticed.... I have been upset lately... LOL!!! I have the mother of all boils on my butt. It's bigger than a quarter and is so painful, itchy, and uncomfortable.
So my question is... Anyone else get these, and if so where, and what do you do to get rid of them?????
Thanks... |

| | Wendy,
I had a boil about a year ago and in the same place as you. Yes, it was stress related. In doing research on boils, I've found that the main reason for them was a depressed immune system.
My doctor told me that on the upper part of your rear end right at the tail bone (basically the top of your 'crack') there is a whole bunch of glands and it is the most common place that people get boils.
I had to get mine lanced because it wouldn't go away on its own. That presents a whole other set of issues with the healing. It has to be from the inside out (AKA packing) or else it just closes up and refills and comes back.
If this one won't go away on its own, I would suggest you see your doctor. I had mine tested for MRSA and it was positive. A boil is basically a staph infection in a pore. And MRSA is a nasty type of staph infection. Please get checked out on this because it won't go away on its own and you need a specialized type of antibiotic to get rid of it.
Anyway, you're not alone in this. Stress does all sorts of ugly things to our bodies.

| | Lisa,
You don't know how relieved I am to read your response......After starting this thread and posting it, I thought...."OMG everyone is thinking I am NUTS(with my recent behavior) and Anthony is going to put me in moderation." LOL!!!!
I was actually too embarrassed to put the exact location of my boil, but you nailed it perfectly. It's where I get them all the time. I have suffered with them for yrs. I finally end up sitting in a boiling hot tub and popping them myself. I did that today. The pain is unbelievable to do this, but the relief is almost instant. Ok probably wwwwaaaayyyyy to much info and I have left a not so pretty picture in your minds, but WTF were talking about BUTTS here so ............
Thanks again for the info, and if I get some health insurance soon I will make an appointment. |

I have piloidinal cysts. I also have a suppurating wound on my bottom, and my leg fro mdepakote 4 years ago. I'm treating them by taking zantac and bactrim, which is working-it's already getting smaller, don't have to change my underwear 3-5 times a day, or put up with pussy stains embarassing me anyway.

| | That same thing happened to my son two years ago. He got this boil at the bottom of his butt. I took him to the ER and they gave him antibiotics. It turned into a staff infection and it literally ate his skin away.
It was freaky looking and the doc put him on 5 different anti-biotic before it healed. Him and his girlfriend were having problems and on the verge of breaking up. So it stands to reason that stress had something to do with it. |

| | Soak in warm water and epsom salts, use witch hazel to help it heal. Apply pain releaving hemorroid cream..takes the sting out.

| | I also belong to the butt boils group.
If you can't get insurance soon, go to the county health department or a low-cost place. Call Planned Parenthood and ask them where all the low-cost doctor places are. |
