| | Notices | Welcome to PTSD Forum. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a life threatening, debilitating disorder that can break down a sufferer’s body through anxiety and stress. Further it poses a significant suicide risk resulting from the brains neurological imbalance and chemical depression. Sufferers often live in denial, thus this community is aimed at helping PTSD sufferers help themselves through others experiences, guidance and education. We are here for the sufferer, spouse and families surrounding PTSD. Spouses and family are too often forgotten in this equation, and often they receive all the worst that PTSD has to offer. If you're involved in any way with PTSD, get registered and help yourself now. Non-active members will eventually be deleted. If you are not a sufferer, carer or someone within the mental health industry, and active, then there is little reason for you to be a member of this forum. Non-active members with zero posts are deleted periodically during the year. | | |

| | Took a Positive Step Today. Some of the folks here who have been here for some time remember that I used to be a shelter home/foster mommy for new born orphan kittens. Well,
I resigned several years ago. I was so burnt out from no sleep. I had not been without babies/kittens for about 4 years. That is alot of kittens to handle non stop.
Well, recently I have really been missing the babies/kittens. So, today I went to the local rescue group where I volunteered before and picked up 2
adorable 3 week old kittens and brought them home.
They will be with us until they are about 9 weeks old and then they will be spayed/nuetered and adopted through the adoption center. The group is called Friends of Strays and we deal with strays only. People bring the animals to us and we do whatever is necessary to find them homes. We are a no kill shelter. I love the fact I can now say "We" when referring to them. I like being a part of this.
Anyway, the babies are so cute. I will post their pictures as soon as they get their bath. Boy are they ever dirty.
I can't believe the way I feel right now. Focusing on something other than myself and mother and our issues and caring for these 2 helpless little babies has made all the difference in the world. Better than any drug or therapy tat I know of that's for sure !! |

| | I am also enjoying the miracle of kittens. I have two new beings at my place, since two weeks ago, they are 10 weeks old now. Little hellions! It is indeed wonderful to have someone else to look after. And when they sidle up next to me and purr...there is nothing else like it! |

Good for you! They are receving warm, food and a whole lot of love and in return you are receving thankfulness and love back. What a loving 2 way street. Without my grandson and dog to bring me joy and happiness, I am not sure where I would be. This is a good distraction and healthy thing you are doing.

| | That is great that you take the time to care for animals. My hubby won't let us have a dog.
