New To Forum From Germany Hello my name is Holly. I am originally from Northern Michigan, U.S.A. I was diagnosed with PTSD shortly after I gave birth to my first child. I didn't believe the counselor and didn't want to speak to my family face to face with the counselor about my abuse and how I felt unwanted by my family. So, I left counseling knowing I desperately needed help. That was about 14 years ago and now we are stationed in Germany. I was rediagnosed with PTSD and my counselor is superb.
I have three children now and my husband and I are still married. A miracle in my book. He is very supportive of me getting help and working through my issues. Currently he is in Iraq.I'm very blessed right now to have my husbands support and the counselor I have now. My best friend from childhood also has been diagnosed with PTSD. She and I share and understand our daily struggles.
I'm verry excited about finding this forum. I've gained much encouragement and insight from your postings. It's so freeing to find there are others who have gone through (and think and feel similarly). It's been said in this forum before "I am not a freak" or abnormal afterall. There is hope and there is a place to go for strength and understanding (empathy).
Happy to be here.
