| | Notices | Welcome to PTSD Forum. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a life threatening, debilitating disorder that can break down a sufferer’s body through anxiety and stress. Further it poses a significant suicide risk resulting from the brains neurological imbalance and chemical depression. Sufferers often live in denial, thus this community is aimed at helping PTSD sufferers help themselves through others experiences, guidance and education. We are here for the sufferer, spouse and families surrounding PTSD. Spouses and family are too often forgotten in this equation, and often they receive all the worst that PTSD has to offer. If you're involved in any way with PTSD, get registered and help yourself now. Non-active members will eventually be deleted. If you are not a sufferer, carer or someone within the mental health industry, and active, then there is little reason for you to be a member of this forum. Non-active members with zero posts are deleted periodically during the year. | | |

| | A Year & Thanks Its been around a year since I joined the forum and I'm almost at 1000 posts. Wow, what a year....I've learned so much about PTSD and I am sure there is much more to learn.
I did want to say thank you to all the PTSD sufferers here as you have taught me a lot about PTSD from just sharing your situations, topics and opinions. As for the carers, a big thank you for being there to talk about things which other people do not understand unless they have PTSD in their life.
In conclusion, I believe PTSD is an ugly and terrible illness but beneath it are beautiful people just trying to deal with their altered life due to trauma. Anthony and I are lucky as we interact very well and he does a great job of managing his PTSD. I have learnt to deal with his PTSD in a way which doesn't enable him but still provides him with plenty of love and support, so we live life with more ups than downs. Some of that is due to us and some of it is due to the community here and what it offers! Thanks to everyone. |

| | Congrats on your 1 yr.....I had mine in May. I am glad that you are trying to learn about PTSD. Most people don't understand it, because it doesn't effect them directly.....
I know at times we can be hard to understand, and even bitchy too......It's hard to have it too, I guess hard to understand where we come from.
Thanks for trying to help and understand.... |

| | Great milestone, isn't it, Nicolette? Congrats on being here a year. And congrats on learning so much. Like Wendy said, most folks choose not to know because it just doesn't impact their lives. Some have their lives impacted and still choose not to know.

| | Thank you Wendy, Lisa, Hope, RD and Pand! I appreciate your kind words and I do enjoy chatting to you all. By helping Anthony with moderating I don't seem to have much time left for chatting these days as the members keep growing |
