| | Notices | Welcome to PTSD Forum. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a life threatening, debilitating disorder that can break down a sufferer’s body through anxiety and stress. Further it poses a significant suicide risk resulting from the brains neurological imbalance and chemical depression. Sufferers often live in denial, thus this community is aimed at helping PTSD sufferers help themselves through others experiences, guidance and education. We are here for the sufferer, spouse and families surrounding PTSD. Spouses and family are too often forgotten in this equation, and often they receive all the worst that PTSD has to offer. If you're involved in any way with PTSD, get registered and help yourself now. Non-active members will eventually be deleted. If you are not a sufferer, carer or someone within the mental health industry, and active, then there is little reason for you to be a member of this forum. Non-active members with zero posts are deleted periodically during the year. | | |

How unbelievebly kind of you to offer your books to me. I am honored that you would do that. Seriously, that meant a lot to me.
I went on line and found her web site where I can order her books. Just trying to decide which one or ones to get. So your suggestions will be very welcome.
Again, thank you so very much for your kind and thoughtful offer.
I am with you, I do miss the show. I was surprised at the time that a show like that could actually help me so much. |

| | I found a bunch of books by Iyanla and Rhonda, listed through my local library.
You might try there, if you want to save a few bucks, or at least decide which ones to buy. |

| | I just have to share this, and this seemed like the appropriate thread to post it in.
I had a dream last night, that Rhonda was working the night shift at Shopko (like Target), stocking shelves, and was really happy about it.
She brought me to her home, and told me that she would be my life coach, and help me get a job at Shopko, and I could buy a car, and I could move out of my mother's house.
I was filled with optimism. I felt like I would finally be happy and free.
Then I woke up, and reality came crashing back. My pelvic pain was awful, and reminded me that there is no way I could hold down a job, right now.
I knew I had to get up and feed everybody and do the laundry and wash the dishes and clean the house. So, I do have a job, with much longer hours than full-time, and I get no pay and no holidays or vacation.
Of course, I'm shirking my duties, and wasting time on the computer, instead. |

| | You're right, Herc! My work is very important, and I like to think that I am doing a good job.
I will be the first to admit, though, that I am not a very good housekeeper.
There's a great quote by Phyllis Diller:
"Cleaning the house, while you have kids, is like shoveling the sidewalk during a snowstorm." |

Loving and caring for your children and family is Way more important than being a susie homemaker with OCD about the floors or the dust. |

| | I've started reading "Fearless Living", by Rhonda Britten. It talks about how our fears control us, and keep us from finding happiness, and living up to our potentials.
It may sound silly, but I'm a little afraid of reading the book. For one thing, my issues (as is true with most PTSDers) are more major than most people's issues. However, she witnessed her father shoot and kill her mother and himself, and was able to take control of her life, so maybe there's hope.
I got the book through library, so I guess I have 3 weeks to decide if it will be helpful to me. If anyone else has read this book, I would appreciate their insights. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
