| | Notices | Welcome to PTSD Forum. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a life threatening, debilitating disorder that can break down a sufferer’s body through anxiety and stress. Further it poses a significant suicide risk resulting from the brains neurological imbalance and chemical depression. Sufferers often live in denial, thus this community is aimed at helping PTSD sufferers help themselves through others experiences, guidance and education. We are here for the sufferer, spouse and families surrounding PTSD. Spouses and family are too often forgotten in this equation, and often they receive all the worst that PTSD has to offer. If you're involved in any way with PTSD, get registered and help yourself now. Non-active members will eventually be deleted. If you are not a sufferer, carer or someone within the mental health industry, and active, then there is little reason for you to be a member of this forum. Non-active members with zero posts are deleted periodically during the year. | | |

| | 12 Steps to Insanity: Funny, Food For Thought THE 12 STEPS OF INSANITY
1. We admitted we were powerless over nothing. We could manage our lives perfectly and we could manage those of anyone else that would allow it.
2. Came to believe that there was no power greater than ourselves, and the rest of the world was insane.
3. Made a decision to have our loved ones and friends turn their wills and their lives over to our care.
4. Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of everyone we knew.
5. Admitted to the whole world at large the exact nature of their wrongs.
6. Were entirely ready to make others straighten up and do right.
7. Demanded others to either "shape up or ship out".
8. Made a list of anyone who had ever harmed us and became willing to go to any lengths to get even with them all.
9. Got direct revenge on such people whenever possible except when to do so would cost us our own lives, or at the very least, a jail sentence.
10. Continued to take inventory of others, and when they were wrong promptly and repeatedly told them about it.
11. Sought through nagging to improve our relations with others as we couldn't understand them at all, asking only that they knuckle under and do things our way.
12. Having had a complete physical, emotional and spiritual breakdown as a result of these steps, we tried to blame it on others and to get sympathy and pity in all our affairs.

| | An acquaintance handed to me, about 2yrs. ago a copy of this, and I really got a kick out of it because I could appreciate not only the humorous way it reflects some truths, but can indeed identify with it at one point or another in these last many years.
Omg, just last night as a friend and I were driving along, and I was quietly feeling simply amazed and delighted with being alive to live and to see ** yrs.
I'd thought I'd share a copy of what was shared with me, here on the forum. In fact, I wanted to do so quite some time ago, but then what with its suggestion of a higher power, or the existence of a God, ........and we all have individual beliefs often differing from each other, at the time I wasn't so sure as to whether to do so, or not.
Naturally, your choose though, .....to take what's funny and/or useful, ....neither or both, and leave the rest behind.
I did do a search on this and it didn't show up, but it may already be here somewhere.
Hope

| | OH, this is great. It cracked me up. I wish I knew more 12-steppers...
I think they'd really appreciate the irony of it (especially since they probably did these steps first, which led them to needing the other set of 12!).
Thanks for sharing it, 'Hope....I needed a lift this morning.

Glad this gave you a lift Dylan and cracked you up too. It did likewise on my end when it was first shared with me. And, It still continues to allow me to LMAO, no matter how many times I read it.
Have a good day!

| | I saw a lot of myself from before in those steps. Funny and a little sad to recognize that. But I did get a good chuckle out them.
Thanks for posting this.

| | Thanks for sharing this Hope. I recently read this and it gave me a good laugh. It still makes me laugh. Although, now I am laughing at my own insanity! Enough 'self-will run riot', it's time to get back to work. |
