| | Notices | Welcome to PTSD Forum. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a life threatening, debilitating disorder that can break down a sufferer’s body through anxiety and stress. Further it poses a significant suicide risk resulting from the brains neurological imbalance and chemical depression. Sufferers often live in denial, thus this community is aimed at helping PTSD sufferers help themselves through others experiences, guidance and education. We are here for the sufferer, spouse and families surrounding PTSD. Spouses and family are too often forgotten in this equation, and often they receive all the worst that PTSD has to offer. If you're involved in any way with PTSD, get registered and help yourself now. Non-active members will eventually be deleted. If you are not a sufferer, carer or someone within the mental health industry, and active, then there is little reason for you to be a member of this forum. Non-active members with zero posts are deleted periodically during the year. | |

| | Back from Vacation Hey all. I'm so glad to be home. I was gone for only a week and, surprisingly, I got homesick. There's comfort and security in being home.
A couple of friends and I went on a motorcycle trip from Illinois through Michigan and back home again through Wisconsin. Each day of the trip went like this- ride about 200ish miles, set up camp, sleep, and breakdown camp in the morning. Waking up someplace new everyday, reminded me of my naughty, college days. (LOL, just kidding. I wasn't that bad in college.) We were all grateful for the night spent in a cabin and the couple of days we didn't have to breakdown camp. Once again, my friend made camping tolerable for me by having my coffee made for me each morning.
The last leg of the trip home kicked my butt. We rode hard coming home, almost 400mi., with only gas stops and bathroom breaks. I was fine until we got stuck in expressway traffic around Milwaukee, WI. It felt hotter than ninety degrees. You'll never hear me complain it's too hot, but that heat was physically draining.
I've got another week of vacation to recover from our trip. I plan to spend it relaxing, washing my filthy bike, and spending quality time with my dogs (I really missed them the most).
Feels good to be home,

| | Hi tude, ........400 miles back, expressway traffic and that kind of heat, I would agree 1 full week of more vacation recommended simply to recover. (lol)
Sounds like a plan...........Make it a good, solid, relaxing full wk and DO ENJOY!
BTW, your bike trip, though a long haul, sounds like it was a good time.

| | Thanks for the welcome back. Ahhh... air conditioning, my own bed and shower, brewed coffee, and no bugs or ferocious mosquitos... it does feel good to be home! Note to Self: Bring nail care items next time, even foot care items too. Camping is hard on the hands and nails. Even though you're roughing it in the woods, doesn't mean the hands and feet have to as well!
I packed minimal, light, and disposable. For a chick, I did good. I left the leave-in hair detangler and conditioner home. The guys gave me grief for throwing away my dirty underwear and socks along the way. So next time, I'll make room for a few non-essential items. |
