| | Notices | Welcome to PTSD Forum. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a life threatening, debilitating disorder that can break down a sufferer’s body through anxiety and stress. Further it poses a significant suicide risk resulting from the brains neurological imbalance and chemical depression. Sufferers often live in denial, thus this community is aimed at helping PTSD sufferers help themselves through others experiences, guidance and education. We are here for the sufferer, spouse and families surrounding PTSD. Spouses and family are too often forgotten in this equation, and often they receive all the worst that PTSD has to offer. If you're involved in any way with PTSD, get registered and help yourself now. Non-active members will eventually be deleted. If you are not a sufferer, carer or someone within the mental health industry, and active, then there is little reason for you to be a member of this forum. Non-active members with zero posts are deleted periodically during the year. | | |

| | Reign Over Me I watched this with my wife a couple of nights ago. It is about a dentist who lost his family on 9/11. He had PTSD as a result.
I was mesmerized, and I thought it was a great movie. I thought it gave a realistic depiction of what it's like to have PTSD.
Has anyone else seen this movie? |

| | Yep.... absolutely love that movie. I have it on DVD as I thought the same.... that finally someone got it about right. It is a very accurate depiction of someone suffering PTSD from such severe trauma. |

| | Yeah, I saw it when it first came out. I thought one of the most accurate aspects of the movie was the music Adam Sandler's character would play to help him dissociate. Sandler did a great job with the role. |

| | I thought it was very good as well. It captured many of the symptoms without seeming like a trashy afterschool special or something. |

| | Loved it....I bawled like a baby and even my boyfriend shed a few tears. We have it on DVD. I have always loved Adam Sandler anyway but was completely bowled over by this performance. He did an amazing job... |

| | Absolutely Jet... I do remember it touched me when watching it for the first time, and even now, I still get a little choked up watching it as some aspects hit so close to home with PTSD. |

| | I watched it tonight with my husband and it's so very f'n sad. In fact it also made me feel angry; Just certain things about the movie. I cried througout off and on and if it wasn't for some humor in that movie as well, I would've cried through the whole movie.
I would like to own a copy of it.

| | Yes...that is something that people should be aware of. This movie is heart wrenching. There are some funny spots but it is terribly sad.
Adam Sandler's character is so misunderstood.... If one minute your life was full of beauty and joy and the next you had lost everything....your spouse, your children,....even your dog, would the world stop for you? What kind of a time line do you put on the healing process for something like that ? Would you be able to wake up the next day or even the next year and see that the sky was blue, the flowers were blooming and the world was beautiful again or would you hide your heart and mind and simply go through the motions of living?
Even though I have PTSD and have heard more times then I can count that I should be over it by now I was stunned that it would not be completely obvious that he was crushed and was simply coping the best he could. While it was plain to see that he needed help I got the feeling that the general consensus was that he should have picked up the pieces and moved on with his life...
