Default Incest Survivor With Fears & Doubts

I'm so grateful to find a place that seems to be so supportive. I have PTSD. Memories of maternal childhood sexual, physical, and emotional abuse began to emerge after an OBGYN exam.

There are times that I am so scared, even about things that haven't happened yet (the future death of my grandparents/lifesavers). Then there are other times that I have doubts that the abuse never happened, coupled with doubts/fears of having no one who will believe me.

I would be appreciative of any insight and wisdom that you would feel comfortable sharing.

Hi awedding (interesting name!)-----

I think those are all pretty normal fears and doubts. It doesn't mean that your trauma didn't happen though. In my experience often memories are repressed until much later, when we have enough years between us and the events and are on a little firmer ground, and can start to deal with them.

One of my favourite quotes (from Holocaust survivor Victor Frankl) goes something like "An abnormal reaction to an abnormal situation is normal behaviour."

So I guess that makes us normal, right?

Welcome to the forum.

Your history sounds somewhat similar to mine, although I have no fond memories of my grandparents.
