Default Lost Job Due To Being Affiliated With The Military

1998 I lost my job due to being affiliated with the Reserves. I notified my employer I was going to be leaving for summer camp and within 5 days I was terminated.
I haven't recovered from that incident and believe I am suffering from PTSD. I went to therapy and under the DSM, I didn't currently meet the diagnosis under the manual.
10 years later I am having trouble with sleep, social anxiety, and depression. I still can't get the information off of my mind and of course I feel highly violated.
The military hasn't offered any help of which I am on an inactive status. I had to get divorced and can't hold down a job. Before I worked for this company over 10 years and 7 was with perfect attendance.

I need a good lawyer and a good therapist to help get some disability or some kind of compensation.

Any suggestions?

Hi Dean-----Welcome to the forum. I would try your local crisis agency or crisis line. I used to work for one and they had every possible referral that was available in the city. Ask if they have any contacts they can give you for PTSD support groups or therapists in your area. Other than that they might also be a good support for you, just to talk.

Several of us here have had the rug pulled out from under us when we lost our jobs suddenly. I personally have found that it really wipes you out.

I would also look at getting another diagnosis, and just explaining to the psychiatrist (or whoever) what you have described here.

This is a good and supportive community to be a part of, and you'll find many people with the same symptoms you're facing.

I don't know if there is a statute of limitations for USERRA. but here is a good place to start researching. (www dot) sgr.org/userra.asp. the act was put in place in 1994 so at least you're not grandfathered out.

this looks like the whole law if you speak leagalese.
