| | Notices | Welcome to PTSD Forum. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a life threatening, debilitating disorder that can break down a sufferer’s body through anxiety and stress. Further it poses a significant suicide risk resulting from the brains neurological imbalance and chemical depression. Sufferers often live in denial, thus this community is aimed at helping PTSD sufferers help themselves through others experiences, guidance and education. We are here for the sufferer, spouse and families surrounding PTSD. Spouses and family are too often forgotten in this equation, and often they receive all the worst that PTSD has to offer. If you're involved in any way with PTSD, get registered and help yourself now. Non-active members will eventually be deleted. If you are not a sufferer, carer or someone within the mental health industry, and active, then there is little reason for you to be a member of this forum. Non-active members with zero posts are deleted periodically during the year. | |

| | Floridians and Gulf Coast People Are you all safe and ready for hurricanes Hanna and Ike? I read that Hanna is starting rain for Florida on Friday, then, well, you can guess the rest. If we don't hear from you next week, please shoot us a quick post here to let us know you are alright, when you are able to do so. Put all your photos and valuables in zipper plastic bags now, while you are thinking about it. |

| | Yep, here we go again.
As for me I had to worry about Gustov too. He headed directly for my daugther. She also flew through TS Fay on her way home. So I am very glad these 2 storms look like they will stay out of the Gulf, I hope.
My bags are packed and the cats are pacing. Did you know they react to high and low pressure fronts in the weather. I hate this time of year in Florida. How very kind of you both you guys to express you concern for ALL of us in Florida.
Thank you |

| | I've lived 16 years in Florida. My welcome hurricane season was the summer the Andrew smacked south Florida. 2004 was a really pissy year in my section of the state. I don't like this time of year too much either. But I'm so surprised that these 'problem children' (I heard a newscaster call them that) hanging out in the Atlantic haven't caused me too much anxiety. No one is more surprised by this than me!
Hopefully these things will go away without causing any problems for anyone in the Gulf states or along the eastern seaboard. Three more weeks and the busy part of the year settles down.

| | I'm on the east coast- on the beach so I might not be here next week, depending on Ike. Hanna shouldn't give us too much trouble- just a lot of blowing and some rain. Ike looks nasty and I'm a little worried about it. I've had a migraine for four days now and it doesn't look like it'll get better until the weather changes ... I guess I'm like the cats. ;~) 2quilt... I'm a quilter too and that's what I'm most worried about. I can take my laptop with me along with photo albums but I can't fit my old machines in the truck. Funny how we worry about the oddest things.
Thanks for thinking of us! D |

| | Thank you for your concern! I am quite touched, really. I have lived here on the East Coast for about 3 1/2 years and still get nervous since I am only 18 miles from the beach. However, we are ready (I think).
I did cancel a flight North as I was not comfortable leaving my daughters here to fend for themselves (ages 7 and 17). My friend in Maryland suffering from cancer was very understanding. I will reschedule in a few weeks, hopefully things will settle down by then.
Thank you again for caring - I am feeling more and more genuine caring from this group each day I login..... (sniff...) |

| | Grama Herc was born and raised in Florida!
While I don't like it and go through lots of anxiety every time a storm heads my way, it is a fact of life.
My cats are my best weathermen. They are already reacting. I agree with D. Ike is gonna be trouble, I can feel it in "me ole bones"
The Cats? ? ? But of course they will go with me along with all their comforts of home, and then if there is room. I'll toss my mom in.! !
Sorry, just could not resist. Gotta find some humor about these dam storms, right. Hopefully the storms will miss us, again. I wish no one would have to endure them but I sure don't want to go through any this year.
Will keep ya'll posted on our statis. And by the way, I've got 6 kittens right now to worry about, too. |

| | Please explain to the kittens what is going on; maybe your older cats cat tell them. They are wise. They have been known to expect earthquakes, seizures, divorces... |

| | We have all had an intense conversation about what may happen to their tiny world.
The kittens trust me so they will be fine, I hope! I just met the last 2 I brought home. We now have 6 babies
They still aren't sure just what I am talking about, but seem to be more stable than the older cats right now. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
