Default A Few Hours of 'Normal' Activity

I am on a bowling league and it is so much fun! Before I went tonight I wasn't really feeling up to par and almost didnt go but decided at the last minute to push through and not let things from before mess up my 'right now'. I guess I put it on a shelf somewhere for awhile or something. I think I did a good job being around a group of people, interacting, laughing, having fun and not thinking about that other crap for a few hours. Fun is good!

Fun is GREAT!!! I decided to coach my son's baseball team last spring when I was at the rock bottom of my symptoms...it was the best decision I could've made! My assistant coaches took care of the parent aspects and I just focused on playing with the kids. I got so much out of it and at the end of the season I was able to go out with the parents and kids to a local restaurant. It was loud and crowded and I hardly ever got anxious. All I had to do was watch the kids singing and dancing and laughing and I calmed down right away. Because of that I am now coaching a girls softball team and I feel the same way. I avoid the parents and just get on the field with the girls. I don't feel like I have PTSD stapled to my forehead and I never get nervous. I look forward to our practices and games because it's the one time I feel normal in my day. So keep up the bowling or whatever else you're interested in!!! I really think it's a great way for us to heal.

I like the sound of that! When I am surrounded my young children and having fun with them I can lose myself in their joy. The same way with animals, especially dogs. I love the energy and excitement and pureness of them. Someday I would like to work where I can be around that all the time....that wouldnt be work at all!

Umightknowme, glad you found a moment of normality and well done on pushing through that is marvelous!

I agree with the other writers, children are wonderful. I love being around kids because you have to be animated with kids - it is all about wonder and imagination and finding joy and fun in the moment. When you are with kids, you can't take yourself too seriously, you have to let your guard down and you soon find yourself smiling and laughing.

I wonder why we can't do that when we are alone?

cats are good too--they can't be controlled, so you can't shut them off. sometimes i just want to be left alone, but if i pay attention to them, i start to feel better.

OH yes I LOVE cats. I have several stray ones around here that are slowly warming up to me. I used to have one of my own and he was my constant companion, I loved his warmth and weight and softness and listening to him purr.
